www.philly.comby Bob Cooney WOULDN'T LIFE BE so much easier if parenting was an exact science. Marv Marinovich thought he had it all figured out while raising his son, Todd. His plan was simple: "I told him when to eat, what to eat, when to go to bed, when to get up, when to work out, how to work out." Uh, that didn't work out so well for Marv, who was trying to mold his son into the greatest quarterback who ever lived. This past weekend, Todd, who failed miserably in the NFL after a short college stint at USC, was arrested, again. Orange County, California police arrested Marinovich after approaching him for skateboarding near the Newport Pier, where riding those things is a real no-no, around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. (Why a 38-year-old is riding a skateboard is another question to ponder.) Marinovich tried to run, but was found hiding in a carport. A search of the former No. 1 pick of the Oakland Raiders produced about a gram of methamphetamine, a metal spoon and a hypodermic needle. During a court appearance yesterday, Marinovich - who is on probation for a previous drug conviction - pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle and resisting a police officer. He'll remain jailed until a Sept. 6 hearing.
