The phrase "One man's trash is another man's treasure" is never more on target than in the NFL. It's like an episode of Antiques Roadshow, where players are brought front and center and teams are hoping they have hit the jackpot.
With the start of the season 24 days away, here is a list of players to keep an eye on as you start thinking about fantasy football teams and such.
Randy Moss, WR, New England Patriots: After a dismal two seasons in Oakland, Moss was shipped east, joining cover boy Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Belichick is no stranger to restoration projects. He took a risk with Corey Dillon and Rodney Harrison and if Moss can keep his mouth shut long enough, he might actually find renewed life in New England.
Daunte Culpepper, QB, Oakland Raiders: Poor Daunte. Following a miserable season in South Florida, the former UCF star winds up playing for Al Davis in California. Sure, with JaMarcus Russell unsigned he should get playing time, but can he survive behind that Raiders' offensive line?
Priest Holmes, RB, Kansas City Chiefs: The best thing to happen to Holmes was Larry Johnson sitting out with a contract dispute. Holmes, who was out of football for 21 months, now finds himself with a chance at regaining his starting job.
Jeff Garcia, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The 37-year-old is playing for his fifth team in nine years. Is this a smart move by Jon Gruden or are the Bucs just jumping the shark?
Joey Harrington, QB, Atlanta Falcons: Another castaway from South Florida, Harrington is playing for his third team in three years and wasn't expected to be a factor this year. But thanks to Michael Vick's off-field issues, he finds himself thrust into the starting role.
