What to do....what to do.... If we play him then Art Shell has egg on his face, if we trade him then another team will have to pay the Raiders close to 4 million, if he keeps riding the bench much like Marcus Allen did then the team cancer will spread.

There might be egg on Art's face if we play him, but it still seems to best thing to do. Having your second best player on offense, on the sideline for no better reason than a dispute with the coach hurts the team and the team should come first.
Trading him would make sense, but that would require someone to make a fair offer(and that hardly seems likely when the team was prepared to accept a 5th round pick for Gabriel, after he had replaced Porter in the starting lineup). But two first round picks probably is too high a price; if they want him gone, then ask for a second rounder. But that leaves the $4m and who knows what the answer to that is, maybe Porter would forego a signing bonus with his new team and that payment might cover the $4m or close to it.
But how do you trade a player that doesn't play to remind people of his abilities ? and what use is he to the team if he never plays ?
The teams needs its best players on the field and Porter needs to impress other teams if he wants away from Oakland(hopefully he should play out of his skin if given the chance), so Art should put aside his pride for the teams' sake and play Porter, even if only to trade his ass.

Agreed. Play him. The Brownies won't be game-planning for him and having him start opposite Moss might even restore some morale to the team.
It's not like the Marcus Allen incident because Art had Bo to run the ball. Porter has... WHITTED?! I love Curry, but he is best as a third WR matching up with a Safety or Nickel Back. Art needs to ask himself if winning games takes a backseat to the old slogan, Pride and Poise. Who knows, maybe Art has given Porter an opportunity to make ammends and he didn't embrace it. He can make his million on the bench as easily as he can on the field with his only worry of injury coming from incensed fans with D-cells.
BEAT CLEVELAND! IF IT'S BROWN, FLUSH IT DOWN!!!
