Just a few I thoughts I would share with you all.
Having Amy Trask give my friend's two daughters a couple of programs and then being nice enough to pose for a photo. She really knows how to treat the Raider Nation, we are in good hands.
The one who took the picture was Marc Badain and he did remember me as the one who took a "unscheduled" tour in the Raiders' headquarters a couple of years ago. He was not mad, in fact he had a sly grin on his face when he talked about it. I guess the people in the office had a good laugh over this "Aussie".
Getting an autograph from Jim Otto on Izzy's Alegate jacket. Even though his knees were bothering him he did get out of his chair when I asked if he could put his name on it.
Seeing Ted "Mad Stork" Hendricks and George Blanda on the sidelines before the half time show. I got Hendricks attention, pointed at him and let him know that he was number one. That dude was so cool that he just shook his head and said "I know".
Of course there was when I was able to tell Al Davis "thank you for making me a fan of football" and then watching the game five feet in front of him during the 4th.
I have been a fan of the Raiders ever since I watched my football game when Daryle "Mad Bomber" Lamonica as the Quarterback in small town Ohio on a 13" black and white television set. My father was really never into sports and he would be watching his shows in the living room so every Sunday as a small boy I would look for a Raiders' game. When they did play on Monday nights I would sneak into the living room and watch the game even though at that small age my bedtime was at 9:00.
Just being there in front of the man, the Godfather of football, the man who made the Raiders what they were was like heaven on earth.
When I was standing in front of Al Davis a woman wearing a Detroit Lions hat came by and stood by me I asked why she was not wearing a Raiders' hat. She said that she did not like the Raiders, so I said "but the Raiders like you". The woman then started to hit on me and I turned around and I could see Al Davis smile at me, I took the claws out of that kitty.
When the game was over and as I stated to leave I waved goodbye to Al Davis and he waved goodbye to me.
I am living the dream.
