This is what it means to me.
During the week:
Listening to the ticket 1050, Jim Rome, JT the-brick and even Pete
Franklin. Reading sports; Football; Raider articles; screw the rest of
the sports section. Watching 49'er fans avoid the "football trash
talk", and duck for cover at work. /* Thank You Raiders */
Waiting for the sports on the evening news, just to hear more Raider
stuff.
Game day:
Reading sports; the Raider articles in the morning's paper; screw the
rest of the paper. Talking Raiders over breakfast with my best friend
and an avid Raider fan, my wife. Jump into my Raider gear and take my
two victory tequila shots with my lucky Raider shot glass. Jumping on a
Bart train, 3 hours early, headed to the Net, talking Raiders with
other Raider fans you never met before. Walking over the cattle
crossing between Bart and the Net. Ahhhhhh, the smell of the
barbecue's that fill the air at the Net. The sea of smoke, flags and
motor-homes. See the parking lot party animals indulging themselves.
It's a Raider party and everyone with black & silver is invited. Enter
the Net, a holy Raider sanctuary. My best friend, my wife, gets the
beer as I head to our seats where I find my Raider family. High five
the gang and more Raider talk of today's game.
3 bells toll:
Dooom…Dooom…Dooom
Ear piercing screams emit from the crowd as I join my fellow Raida
fan's in the intense vocal explosion. I feel a lump in my throat and
resist tears as the men in Silver and Black take the field. It's Show
Time!
