story.theinsiders.comBy TFY Draft Preview Date: Dec 10, 2003 It was a disappointing season in Tuscaloosa after the coaching fiasco over the summer. Hence the Tides best defensive player has decided to take his game to the next level. Alabama junior defensive end Antwan Odom has decided to declare his eligibility for the NFL draft. Tide coaches, who were informed of his decision, realized Odom was considering leaving for the draft coming into the season. Odom went through the NFL's Advisory Committee and was given a favorable report, in fact some are saying the report came back with a first round grade. Odom states he will immediately begin preparing for pre-draft workouts. Odom led the Tide with 8 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. A red-shirt junior, Odom had a breakout campaign last season when he produced 10 sacks. TFY Analysis: It would have been better off had Odom, and undersized lineman, gone back to school for another season. While he needs to increase his bulk and strength the fact is Odom makes a lot of plays in the opponents backfield and will be a commodity come April. If he's not taken in round one Odom will hear his name called early in the second round.
