The agent for former Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson told ESPN that the Raiders have made an offer for the unrestricted free agent.
Woodson was released by the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason after spending the past seven seasons in Green Bay. Current Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie was with the Packers when Woodson was there from 2006-11.
The 49ers are the only team that Woodson has visited since his release. He is scheduled to meet with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, according to an NFL.com report.
Initially, Woodson said he only wanted to play for a team that had a realistic shot of competing for the Super Bowl. Last week, Woodson said he now is open to playing for any team as a result of not receiving much interest in free agency.
Woodson, 36, spent his first eight NFL seasons with the Raiders, where he earned four of his eight Pro Bowl selections and cemented his reputation as one of the league’s best cornerbacks.
He signed with the Packers in 2006 and helped them win a Super Bowl during his seven-year tenure. Along the way, he converted to free safety.
The ESPN report said Woodson’s agent mentioned the Raiders and Carolina Panthers as teams that recently inquired about Woodson’s interest in signing with those teams.
