Carter, entering his 13th NFL season, joined the Raiders early in the 2012 campaign and played in 12 games for the Silver and Black. A 6-foot-4, 260-pound defender out of California, Carter has played in 175 career games with 147 starts. His NFL totals include 23 passes defensed and 18 forced fumbles in 12 years with San Francisco (2001-05), Washington (2006-10), New England (2011) and Oakland (2012). He entered the NFL as the 49ers’ first-round selection (seventh overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft. In 2012, Carter posted 28 tackles (18 solo), 2½ sacks and one forced fumble. In 2011, with the Patriots, Carter recorded 10 sacks and received his first Pro Bowl selection, but missed the game due to a quadriceps injury.
