www.insidebayarea.comBy Jerry McDonald The agent for cornerback Terence Newman said Monday his client is giving "strong consideration" toward signing with the Raiders. Newman, who started 15 games with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, met with the Raiders last week and left the facility without signing a contract. Since free agency began, the Raiders have been signing defensive players: linebackers Kaluka Maiava, Nick Roach and Kevin Burnett and defensive end Jason Hunter. Through free agency and the draft, the Raiders will be in the market for cornerbacks as well as a free safety to replace Michael Huff, who was released at the start of the new league year. In an e-mail, Ben Dogra of CAA Football said, "He liked the coaches and overall gameplan presented by Reggie McKenzie. Terrence hopes to make a decision shortly after the owner's meetings. He is considering Oakland and Cincinnati.'' Newman, 34, played for the Bengals last season after nine seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
