OAKLAND -- The Raiders and New Orleans Saints continued to move in opposite directions Sunday at O.co Coliseum.
With Drew Brees passing for three touchdowns and the Saints taking advantage of two key first-half interceptions by Carson Palmer, the Raiders fell 38-17 before a home crowd that wasn't shy about voicing its disapproval.
The Raiders are 3-7, have given up 135 points in their last three games, all losses, and are showing no sign of having what it takes to pull out of a downward spiral.
New Orleans is 5-5 after starting the season 0-4 and can legitimately talk playoffs after getting its record to .500. Brees completed 20 of 27 passes for 219 yards and no interceptions.
Palmer, piling up much of his passing yardage with the game decided, was 22 of 40 for 312 yards and touchdown passes of 1 yards to Brandon Myers and 3 yards to Juron Criner.
One bright spot for the Raiders was the play of running back marcel Reece, who rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries and caught a 56-yard pass to set up the Raiders' first touchdown.
The Saints took charge on their first possession, driving 80 yards in 10 plays with Brees flipping a 1-yard scoring pass to an unguarded Jimmy Graham on third-and-goal.
Later in the quarter, Palmer, one play after missing badly on a pass to Denarius Moore, attempted to force one to Myers. Malcolm Jenkins intercepted it and raced 55 yards for a touchdown.
The Raiders painstakingly drove from their own 16 all the way to the New Orleans 7, only to have Palmer pass bounce off Myers' hands directly to Roman Harper in the end zone.
When the Raiders got on the board with Palmer completing a 1-yard pass to Myers, New Orleans answered with a crushing score _ a 38-yard touchdown pass from Brees to Lance Moore with 57 seconds left in the half.
If that wasn't enough, Travaris Cadet returned the second-half kickoff 75 yards and Mark Ingram raced 27 yards on the next play _ giving New Orleans a 28-7 lead after 17 seconds had elapsed in the quarter.
Brees added another touchdown pass to Moore _ this one from 16 yards out _ and all the Raiders could manage in the quarter was a 40-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski.
The Raiders have been outscored 123-34 in the third quarter this season.
