Tight end Richard Gordon (hamstring) and running back Taiwan Jones (knee) returned to practice, placing the Raiders at near full strength heading into the Kansas City Chiefs game.
Gordon missed the past two games with an injury he suffered two days before Oakland’s game against the Denver Broncos. Jones got hurt in practice last week, and he didn’t play against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It appears as if both will be ready for the Chiefs this Sunday.
Right offensive tackle Khalif Barnes (groin) and cornerback Shawntae Spencer (foot) aren’t practicing once again. Coach Dennis Allen said Monday that both players are “doubtful” for the Chiefs game.
That means Willie Smith is slated to start in Barnes’ spot for the fifth straight game, with Michael Huff replacing Spencer for the fifth consecutive game, too.
– Linebacker Aaron Curry is practicing for the fourth straight time since he was removed from the physically unable to perform list.
It remain uncertain whether he will be activated for the Chiefs game, if at all before the Raiders are forced to decide whether to activate him to their 53-man roster, waive him or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
Allen said Monday that the Raiders don’t have any definitive plans on how they’re going to proceed right now. The focus is on seein how well Curry responds in his return from sore knees.
The Raiders have two more weeks before they are forced to make a move with Curry, though they can activate him at any time during the 21-day evaluation window.
– The six players who suffered injuries against the Jaguars are practicing today. That makes it likely that they will play against the Chiefs.
The six are: wide receiver Rod Streater (knee) defensive lineman Dave Tollefson (shoulder), linebacker Miles Burris (elbow), defensive end Desmond Bryant (elbow) linebacker Keenan Clayton (shoulder) and running back Mike Goodson (hip).
– The Raiders signed center Jason Slowey to their practice squad. In turn, they waived center Colin Miller to make room for Slowey.
Slowey was a sixth-round pick of the 49ers this year. The 49ers waived Slowey in reducing their roster to 75 players in late August.
Slowey is wearing No. 63.
