The Associated Press Posted: 07/13/2009 12:09:10 PM PDT OAKLAND, Calif.—Alameda County is suing Oakland for the city's decision to enforce a tax on parking at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The county owns the land the stadium sits on and says the 18.5 percent tax would cost it money. That's because the teams that lease the stadium—the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders—can deduct the tax from their rent payments, which are divided between the county and city. But Oakland Deputy City Attorney Kevin Siegel says the city is allowed to collect the tax since the county is not directly paying it. Baseball fans will see parking fees go up as a result of tax. The Oakland Athletics announced Monday parking will cost $2 more at the stadium starting with the team's next homestand. ——— Information from: The Oakland Tribune, www.oaklandtribune.com
