Raiders' newsgroup, Usenet. (OEP) -- ASFPOR's copy&paste King "The Shadow" will
miss up to six hours with a busted gut.
The Shadow was injured in the ASFPOR's b*tch slap of Doc Dolphin on Sunday, but kept posting. He underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test Tuesday,
revealing the fracture.
Coach Raider Jeff said Wednesday that Shadow will be out 3-to-6 hours.
"He will be missed,'' Raider Jeff said. "It's a blow, because he's a Usenet
legend in his own mind. When you have a quality poster of Shadow's caliber,
who's posted at an all-star level, that's hard to replace. It's something we
have to overcome.''
Raider Jeff said he wasn't made aware of the injury until a couple of
seconds ago. It happened midway on a reply to Doc Dolphin when Shadow busted
a gut from laughing so hard at the whole "Dolphin Nation" bullnuts.
"If I know Shadow, he'll be back sooner than later,'' quarterback PIRATE
said. ``Not many guys would post through the pain of getting an e mail with
Doc on his webcam like he did the other night.''
Raider Jeff plans to name a replacement in a couple of minutes. Rookie
Tucker and veteran Izzy are competing for the spot.
Tucker is the newsgroup's top draft pick this year out of the
alt.tv.sopranos newsgroup. Izzy signed as a free agent a few years ago
after he had the nerve to wear Seachicken gear at a Raiders' game when they
were in LA.
Shadow is a four-time mental case selection and was the ASFPOR's first-round
draft pick in 1997 after winning the Golden Turkey award in the
alt.satellite.gps.magellan newsgroup. He attended a team meeting Wednesday
but was not available to comment since he drank the bar dry.
This is the one of the many things that has gone this newsgroup's way so far
this season.
"Izzy and Tucker have to step up,'' receiver Queen B said. "We hope to get
him back soon since he will buy the first round of drinks. I feel bad for
him, but worse for me since I am really thirsty and I do not have that much
money in my pocket right now. He was having such a great season in the sun,
we had joy and we had fun. That's part of it, though, and we have to help
him get through it by kicking his ass to Oakland''
