mvn.comBy Patrick Patterson The Oakland Raiders recently began notifying season ticket holders that a previously ignored city ordinance banning “Amplified Music” was going to be enforced this season. This has caused much consternation among the citizens of the Raider Nation as both DJs and bands like Raiderhed are as much a part of the fabric of the pregame tailgate scene as tri-tip and beer. According to sources with the Raiders, this change came about because of a change in the management of the parking lots and their agreement with the union. Also according to the source, the fans are split with some being happy about the change and others rather livid. It would seem that a blanket “No amplified music” is as ridiculous as the Chiefs recent ban on “Excessive standing.” Part of the fun of the Raider parking lot on game day is being able to walk among the various areas and hear everything from latin, punk, metal, rock, blues, hip hop, etc underscoring the diversity of the Raider Nation. In a compromise, the Raiders could implement a limited number “Amplified Music Permits” where the team could control the number and location, so that the fans who don’t want the band or the DJ around could have dead zones where the various bands, DJs etc, would be off in the distance. Supporting the parking lot bands here at TFDS!
