Puppet?? Like I said ... It is what it is.
I have a deep respect and appreciation for Art.
When the RAIDERS were in LA ... I took my oldest son (who was 3 or 4 @
the time) to the RAIDERS El Segundo facility to get tickets to see a
RAIDERS vs. kc game.
After buying the tickets we watched the last few minutes of late-morning
practice through the fence and then waited for the players to come out
to go to lunch.
I put my son up on my shoulders so that he could peek over the fence to
see the players as they walked in from the practice field. He had a
little Bo Jackson jersey on.
My son called out to Bo as he walked by ... Bo ignored him (prick)
Howie waved, Marcus waved.
We walked over to the parking lot. Tim Brown walked by & flatly refused
my son's request for an autograph saying "I'm going to lunch ... I don't
have time".
Bo strolled by totally ignoring us. Marcus Allen was standing next to
his car talking to someone about 20 feet away. He saw tim brown & bo
blow off my kid. When he was done talking he called us over. He spent 5
minutes talking to us .... wrote my kid a nice note and took a couple of
pictures with us. Both my Son and I were stoked.
As we were walking to our car ... Art walked up to us. He spoke to us
briefly & signed autograph for my kid. He said he was on the way to a
meeting and walked into the building ... followed closely by Terry
Robiske (sp?). Robiske comes back out about 20 seconds later @ asks if I
can wait there a few minutes. I say "sure!" & 5 minutes later he emerges
from the building with a football with a few signatures on it including
His & Art's (still have that ball :-) ).
Even in a rush to get to a meeting ... Art took the time to acknowledge
& talk to ... a little Boy ... & left a lasting positve impression on a
very proud & grateful Father.
