Throughout history the Raiders have had a large number of great players come through, with many ending up in the NFL Hall of Fame. In the near future, I’ll do a post on the all time Raider team. Today, on the other hand, I am going to go the other way and fill a line up of the worst players to don the Silver and Black. These are the guys that when the Raider Nation looks back, they cringe. Today, the offense. So, now, without further ado, here goes…
Quarterback: This one is easy, Todd Marinovich. Marajunavich was drafted in the first round amid high expectations, but other than one game, did absolutely nothing as an NFL quarterback. The NFL Network recently had him listed as one of the top 10 busts of all time. Dishonorable mention: Dan Pastorini, who was acquired in a trade for Raider great Kenny Stabler who’s only contribution was getting injured so Jim Plunkett could take over. Jay Schroeder, Marc Wilson, and Jeff George all get a shout out here as well.
Runningback: Anyone here remember Tyrone Montgomery? I didn’t think so. HE had a few good games in 94 or 95 and then didn’t do squat. Dishonorable mention: Nick Bell and LaMont (3.8 ypc) Jordan.
Wide Receiver: The first one that comes to mind is Alvis Whitted. Kenny Shedd would have to be on the other side. Dishonorable mention: Mike Williams would have to take the slot position here.
Tight End: Rickey Dudley couldn’t catch a cold. Thats not entirely true, he could catch it but not hold on to it. Dishonorable mention: Doug “one year wonder” Jolley and Tey Johnson.
Offensive Line: Pat Harlow was probably the worst tackle to disgrace the Silver and Black. Compared to him, Barry Sims is a Hall of Fame candidate. Matt Stinchcomb never worked out. He could have been a great one, but his Super Bowl melt down gives Barrett Robins this dishonor.
