www.sunherald.com/news/breaking_news/story/302154.htmlFormer Southern Miss punter Ray Guy again was named as one of the 17 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Monday. Guy stood as one the NFL's all-time great punters during his 14-year career with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. The seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro was a finalist last year as well, but failed to receive the 80 percent vote mark necessary for induction. Wide receiver Cris Carter and defensive back Darrell Green are two of the probable shoo-ins to be elected on Feb. 2. The ballot will also include defensive ends Fred Dean and Richard Dent; linebackers Randy Gradishar, Derrick Thomas and Andre Tippett; guards Russ Grimm, Bob Kuechenberg and Randall McDaniel; wide receivers Art Monk and Andre Reed; and tackle Gary Zimmerman. Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue also made the cut along with the senior committee nominees running back Marshall Goldberg and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Emmitt Thomas.
