In a suprise move today, the San Francisco 49's have announced the signing
of former Steeler and Bear quarterback Kordell Stewart. The Players union
is reeling over the small amount of the contract Stewart accepted to move to
the Bay Area.
At a hastlily arranged newsconference Stewart commented, "It's always been a
dream of mine to come to San Francisco - I don't know why, it just was.".
When asked about the 1-year contract for only $2,500.00, Stewart replied,
"It's all I could afford to pay.".
